CASUAL DELIRIUM

This collection is defined by an instinctual feeling that something is very wrong, yet the finger cannot be placed as to why. I drew inspiration from nuke towns, fake towns constructed for nuclear weapons testing in the 40s, and the subsequent horrors that prevailed because of them. This idea of a picture perfect plastic town that has an incredibly nefarious underside to it is what pushed the collections tone and overall title. “Casual Delirium” is defined by a state of nonchalance despite a seemingly malicious course of action. I translated this feeling into the garments through layering of garments and tedious pleating techniques that begs the audience to ask what is lying underneath. The playful silhouettes contrast with deliberately constrictive details as a means to showcase the disturbing truth that lies just beneath the surface.
